George Volpe of Oakmont, Pennsylvania, succumbed to death from a shark attack off the coast of California on May 12, 2022, at the age of 63. As far as we know, that is precisely how it happened.
George lived hard, worked hard, and played hard. More than the sun loves the sky, he loved his children: Kyle (Kylie Man), Sofia (Mosey Posey), and Gina (G-Bear). He shared his passions with them, including boating, barefoot waterskiing, snow skiing, traveling, recipes, reading, sunsets, music, and once again boating.
George measured love in terms of oceans. Like the ocean, his love was boundless and he lived with intention and "no fear". There were no airs about him.
Among his pet peeves were apple sauce, mean people, texting, and shoes.
Devoted to his company, BCI Equipment Specialists just celebrated 33 years of incorporation. George preferred to meet with customers, vendors, or employees in person because he insisted relationships are what make a business – not transactions. He played the role of mentor and earned the respect and adoration of his colleagues and friends that he encouraged and promoted. George was fortunate to be surrounded by incredibly loyal employees Racquel, Blair, Jim, Wayne, Bob, and Dave.
He is survived by his son and two daughters; a brother, Jim Volpe; three sisters Jean Letterle, Sally Volpe, and Peggy Volpe; and nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.
A memorial and celebration of life reception to honor George will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 4 pm at the Riverside Landings, 12 Washington Avenue, Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Please bring your stories and your happiness over a life that was lived to the fullest.
The children wish for George to spend eternity among the seas. His ashes will be spread at a later date off the Pacific Coast.
In place of flowers, please donate to the Pacific Mammal Center, Laguna Beach, California, at www.pacificmmc.org.
