George Allen Wolsfelt, age 89 of Lake City, FL and formally New Smyrna Beach, FL died Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Baya Pointe Nursing Home, Lake City, FL.

Born in Aurora, Illinois to Gerald Wolsfelt and Marie Sigler. George was a graduate from St. Louis University, St. Louis MO and received his master's degree at Washington University in St. Louis MO. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served on the USS Shangri-La. George moved New Smyrna Beach in 1959, from St. Louis, Mo and then to Lake City, FL in 2006.

George was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, #149, New Smyrna Beach, FL, Lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 57, Lake City, FL and past president of the South East Volusia Historical Society, New Smyrna Beach, FL. He was also a past officer of the Kiwanis Club and JC's both of New Smyrna Beach, FL.

George was a huge history buff. He & his wife, Peggy Wolsfelt, were the owner/operators of the Alba Court Inn in New Smyrna Beach for over 50 years. Upon moving to Lake City he and his wife continued to be civic minded by volunteering at the NF/SG Veterans Health System as a Volunteer Ambassador. They were members of the Southside Baptist Church, Lake City, FL.

George was predeceased by his devoted wife of 55 years, Peggy Elizabeth Murphy Wolsfelt, and his parents. Survivors include his daughter, Jacqueline (Barry) Wright, granddaughter, Rachel Sganga and his brother, Gerald Wolsfelt and numerous nieces, nephews & friends.

Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Settle Wilder Funeral Home with a Masonic service. Burial will follow at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery with military honors. Friends will be received Friday, from 10:00 am until the service time at Settle Wilder Chapel.
