It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Georgette C. Theroux, on August 20, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born in Montcerf, Gatineau, Quebec on November 29, 1932.

Georgette and her husband Henry moved from Timmins, Ontario to DeWitt in 1957, where they made their home until his retirement and became snow birds in Florida. in 1992. In 2021, she returned to Michigan to be closer to family. She spent her career in retail before retiring to enjoy life with Henry. While living in Florida, she devoted time to Meals on Wheels and was always eager to lend a hand to friends in need.

A woman who embraced life fully, Mom delighted in playing euchre and poker, golfing, fishing, hunting, and bowling. Though naturally shy, she encouraged her children to be outgoing and adventurous, and she herself never hesitated to try something new. She loved crossword puzzles, cherished time with her family and friends, and lived joyfully with a deep Christian faith.

Georgette is survived by her three children, Denis (Sharon) Theroux, MonaLisa Young, and Doreen (Randy) Brown; grandchildren Mila, Jessika (KC), Justin, Michael (Krisha), Amy (Dave), Becky (Shane), Bryon (Tami), and Chad (Maritza); eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters Madeleine (late Gerald) Hnatyshen and Lisette (late Maurice) Cloutier; and brother Roger (Suzanne) Gravel. She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Henry; her parents Felix and Florence Gravel; siblings Therese (Charles) Mireault, Laurier (Jackie and Rachelle) Gravel, and Urgel (Sylvia) Gravel; and brothers-in-law Omar (Rachelle) Theroux, Arthur (Florence) Theroux, Frederick (Irene) Theroux, Leo (June) Theroux, Orville (Jeanine and Ann) Theroux, and Gerry (Claudette) Theroux. She was also preceded in death by sisters-in-law Rose Gagnon and Cora (Peter) Doucet.

Mom fought a courageous battle with Parkinson's and we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in God's eternal kingdom. Though the days ahead will be difficult, she leaves us with a legacy of unconditional love, strong faith, resilience and joy for life.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Rosewood Foster Care for the compassionate care shown to Mom over the past year.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N Bridge St, DeWitt, with gathering beginning at the church at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rosewood Foster Care, 1070 Webb Road, DeWitt, Michigan 48820.
