Georgia Lavern Barras, 78, a resident of Biloxi, MS, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Merit Health Hospital in Biloxi from natural causes.
She was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on November 2, 1946, the daughter of Lemuel L. LeGrande and Lola Chapman Johnson. Georgia was married to Frank Barras on June 20, 1974.
Georgia spent her career in the Biloxi Public School District, working in the school cafeteria. She enjoyed crosswords and word find puzzles. She loved animals, especially dogs and horses. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Frank T. Barras Jr., her mother, Lola Chapman Johnson; her father, Lemuel L. LeGrande; and her sisters, Marie Capuano and Marilyn Wood.
Georgia is survived by her brother, Gene Johnson; brother-in-law Jimmy Wayne Wood; 2 children, Michele Little and husband, Mike, and Stephanie Barras; 2 Grandchildren, Mason and Maya Little; 3 Nieces, Gidget Massingill, Christy Wood, and Tabitha Wood; and 2 Great-Nieces, Emma and Lila Utley.
A family gathering for Georgia Lavern Barras will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 10:00 am at Infinity Funeral Home in Biloxi, MS.
