It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Georgia State Trooper Jimmy Cenescar, a devoted fiancé, son, nephew, cousin, grandson, brother, extended family member, and friend, who lost his life on Sunday, January 28, 2024, in a single-vehicle crash attempting to stop a fleeing motorcycle on Interstate 85 North. He was 28 years of age.
Jimmy was born on August 8, 1995, in Port Au Prince, Haiti, and was raised with love and care by his parents, Helas and Wisleine Cenescar. His untimely departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Jimmy was a servant leader and a man of faith. He attended Eagles Nest Church in Roswell, GA where Pastor Lee Jenkins is the Lead Pastor. Jimmy was also a dedicated public servant, exemplifying the noble qualities of a State Trooper. He began his law enforcement career in Georgia, serving with the Department of Public Safety since January 2023. Prior to his tenure there, he spent three years with the Atlanta Police Department, where his heroics were celebrated and recognized. In 2021, a video was released showcasing Jimmy's bravery as he rescued a driver who had driven off a bridge. His quick thinking and unwavering commitment to protecting others was evident. Due to his heroism, Jimmy was awarded by the 300 Club of Atlanta in 2022 for providing outstanding service. Jimmy believed that his role in law enforcement was not just a profession, but a daily expression of his passion for making a positive impact in the lives of those he served.
Even with a demanding career, Jimmy pursued higher education and aspired to make a difference beyond the field of law enforcement. He was currently enrolled at Georgia Gwinnett College, studying Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science. Despite his busy schedule, Jimmy was on track to graduate in May and had dreams of combining his knowledge with his natural leadership skills to effect change within the criminal justice system.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Jimmy was a compassionate and loving individual. Upon coming to the United States, Jimmy was Raised in Orlando, Florida, and finally settled in Dallas, Georgia. His passion for cooking earned him the title of "master chef" among his loved ones, who delighted in the delicious meals he prepared. Jimmy had a talent for fixing and assembling things, enjoying the satisfaction that came from taking something broken and making it whole again. He was exceptionally organized and had a knack for cleanliness, which earned him the victory in the family competition of cleaning.
Jimmy's memory will forever be cherished by his devoted family, including his father Helas, mother Wisleine, sister Jessica, and brothers Isaac, Jehu, Joel, and Esaie. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandmother Ervilla Cenescar, a host of beloved cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. In addition, he leaves behind his fiancée Natalia N. Croom, with whom he shared two years of love and companionship.
To honor Jimmy's life, a Funeral Service will be held at the Mount Paran Church on February 9, 2024, at 11:00 am. Following the service, Jimmy will be laid to rest at Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton, Georgia. Friends are encouraged to gather with the family from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024 in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory.
In this time of grief, let us come together as a community and support one another as we remember and celebrate Jimmy's life. May his legacy of courage, compassion, and dedication continue to inspire us all. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
