Gerald "Jerry" M. Brant, 78, of Medina, Ohio, (formerly of Wadsworth, Ohio) passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving family by his side. Jerry was born on June 24, 1945 to Milton and Ruth Brant in Akron, Ohio. After Jerry graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1964, he served his country as part of the Ohio National Guard. He went on to work in the rubber industry at B.F. Goodrich in Akron for 22 ½ years. He later worked as a custodian for the Brunswick City School District for 19 years, finally retiring in 2021.
In 1961, Jerry met the love of his life, Karen. They married in 1965 and resided in Wadsworth, Ohio where they raised their only daughter and 'pride & joy' Julie (Brant) Hall. After Julie was raised, Jerry & Karen moved their home to Medina, to be closer to Julie and her family.
First and foremost, Jerry loved the lord and was known to recite bible verses by memory. Jerry had many interests, he loved to travel with his family and enjoyed Disney World Resort. He loved to work in his yard and on his cars. But most of all, at the center of everything- was his love for his family, they meant the world to him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Karen Brant; daughter, Julie (Brian) Hall of Lodi; granddaughter, Faith (Jarred) Fisher of Grayson, Kentucky; grandson, Joseph Petruna of Lodi, Ohio; sister, Juanita "Nita" (Danny) Boeswetter of Oldsmar, FL; brother-in-law, Carl Tell of Akron, Ohio; sister-in-law, Jackie Brant of Grayson, Kentucky; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews along with a lifetime of collected friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Milton, and Ruth Brant; twin brother, Harold "Joe" Brant; sister, Mary Ann Tell (nee Brant); brother, William Brant; In Laws, Joe & Helen Macklin; and nephew, Gregg Bostick.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St. Medina, OH 44256 and on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jerry's memory be made to: Heartland Community Church Mission program, 3400 Weymouth Road, Medina, Ohio 44256 The Brant family has always had a close connection to mission work, so this is something that Jerry would be honored to have supported in his memory.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Race for Grace, Leukemia Society, Cleveland Clinic, Heartland Church, and all those who followed and supported Jerry and his family on Jerry's Journey. Your kindness and strength have helped us all so much.

My earliest memories of Uncle Jerry (and Aunt Karen) go back to when we would come "home" from Africa and they would be at the airport. Uncle Jerry's smile and laugh matched my Dad's. It was full of warmth and humor. I can't remember a time that I was with Uncle Jerry when he didn't make me laugh or smile. I remember visiting him at the tire shop, the smell and the lively conversation between him and Dad about cars. Always about cars! His hand would slip into his pocket and pull out a coin for the candy machine. To this day, when I walk into a tire store, I think of Uncle Jerry and it's a good association. Because Uncle Jerry was a good Uncle. I will always be grateful for the sweet memories he (and Aunt Karen) added to my childhood.
