Gerald "Jerry" Carroll Wilson, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. Born on January 17, 1937, in Louisville, KY Jerry lived a fulfilling life marked by hard work, dedication, and a profound love for his family.
Jerry's career spanned over three decades at Armour & Company, where he made significant contributions during his years of service. His skills turned beyond the workplace as he became a self-taught carpenter, electrician, and an overall do-it-yourself enthusiast. Known for his ability to tackle any project with confidence, he brought his creative talents and problem-solving skills into every aspect of his life.
In addition to his many talents, Jerry was a kind-hearted individual with a great sense of humor, always ready for fun and laughter. He was an active member of the Westport Road Baptist Church, where he found community and shared his faith.
Family was the cornerstone of Jerry's life. He cherished the time spent with his beloved wife, Marlene Scherer Wilson, and he took immense pride in his daughters, Tamara Bland and Karen McWilliams. Jerry's legacy continues through his six grandchildren: Jared (Kelley) Bland, Jordyn (Jordan) Biery, Ashley Warner-Wilson, Nolan (Jasmine) Wilson, Zach (Shelby) McWilliams, and Shelby McWilliams (Austin Schneller). Jerry was also the proud grandfather of ten great-grandchildren: Aubrianna Maulden, Lincoln and Talia Bland, Caroline, Kate, and Palmer Biery, Barron, Emery and Florence Wilson, and Scottie McWilliams. He found great joy in cheering on his family at various sporting events, imparting a love for sports that transcended generations.
Outside of family affairs, Jerry was an avid sports fan, particularly devoted to the UK Wildcats. His passion for woodworking and home improvement projects was evident, as he dedicated much of his free time crafting and creating beautiful spaces for his home. Jerry's fondness for family vacations at the beach provided countless cherished memories that will span generations.
Jerry was preceded in death by his infant son, Ronald Allen Wilson, his parents, Herbert and Nathel Wilson, his son Steve Wilson, and his son-in-law David Bland. Although he leaves behind a legacy woven with happiness and love, he will be profoundly missed by his family and friends who fondly remember the joy he brought into their lives.
Visitation and Celebration of Life services will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243, with visitation from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM and the celebration beginning at 4:00 PM.
