Gerald Michewicz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors - Utica on Feb. 7, 2026.
Gerald Michewicz, age 90, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, in Sterling Heights. He was born on July 17, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Robert and Martha Michewicz.

Gerald was the beloved husband of Elaine K. Michewicz. The couple was united in marriage on September 29, 1956, in Hamtramck, Michigan, and shared many loving years together.

He was the devoted father of Katherine Cherluck of St. Clair Shores, Anthony (Barb) Michewicz of Shelby Township, and Timothy (Lisa) Michewicz of Macomb Township. Gerald was a proud grandfather to Kevin (Abigail) Cherluck, Keith (Jessica) Cherluck, Jay (Amber) Cherluck, Lanie Michewicz, Chris (Amanda) Michewicz, Daniel Massoglia, Sarah Massoglia, Jake Haas, and Dan Haas, and a cherished great-grandfather to Michaline, Mirek, Ace, Kol, Zoe, Evelynn, and Olivia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond (Ilene) Michewicz; and his sister, Joanne (Bob) Genslak of Westland

Gerald proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman and worked as a machinist. He later enjoyed working security at Hazel Park Raceway. A dedicated provider and loving family man, Gerald found joy in life's simple pleasures-playing cards such as pinochle and euchre, riding his bike, visiting amusement parks, walking in the woods, mushroom hunting, and driving with the top down despite the toll on his hair. He was known for his great sense of humor and his ability to bring smiles to those around him.

Visitation will be held on February 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home (8459 Hall Road, Utica, MI 48317). Funeral services will take place on February 11, 2026, with in-state visitation at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Jane Frances Catholic Church (38750 Ryan Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48310). Burial will follow immediately at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East (38425 Garfield Rd, Clinton Township, MI 48038)

Gerald will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
