Gerald L. Palmer, Jr., 93, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, after a short illness. Except for a few early school years, he spent nearly all his life in Louisville, Kentucky - a city he loved dearly.

A 1950 graduate of Louisville Male High School, Gerald answered his country's call the following year, joining the United States Marine Corps and serving with honor during the Korean conflict. After returning home, he used the G.I. Bill to attend the University of Louisville, where a twist of alphabetical fate seated him next to Miss Margy Ann Pitt in an English class. He looked at her once and, by all accounts, never looked away. They married in 1956 and shared 66 devoted years together until Margy's passing in 2022.

Throughout his life, Gerald was guided by a deep sense of duty to his country, his community, and his faith. He spent many years with General Motors, where he was a proud and active member of the UAW. He was equally dedicated to the Democratic Party, believing in the power of standing up for what mattered. As a faithful member and Ruling Elder at Highland Presbyterian Church, Gerald lived his beliefs with a servant's heart. In his daily life, he could often be found reading.

In every chapter of his life, Gerald found purpose in serving others. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity and steadfast love.

Gerald is lovingly remembered by his children, Brad (Sherry) Palmer and Joanna Lowry (Gary Hobbs); his grandchildren, Charley and Collin; his brother, Benjamin Neil Weinberg (Owen) of Union City, California; and a wide circle of cherished loved ones and friends who were blessed by his presence.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margy; his parents, Eleanor Grant and Gerald Leslie Palmer, Sr.; and his brother, George Vernon Palmer.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 4th, from 2:00pm - 8:00pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 11:00am at the funeral home with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Gerald's name to Highland Presbyterian Church in Louisville. The family thanks you for your presence as we celebrate our Gerald together. We also wish to thank The Springs of Stonybrook, Gerald's home since 2022.
