Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brater-Winter Funeral Home (Harrison) on Nov. 5, 2025.
Jimmy W. Palmer, 80 years old of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away on June 18, 2025, after years of affliction with Parkinson's disease and congestive heart failure.
Jimmy was born on August 30, 1944, to Glen and Margaret Palmer in Milan, Indiana. He grew up in Delhi, Ohio, and then lived most of his youth in Hooven, Ohio. Math and Science came easily to Jimmy. After finishing high school, he began his first job at Jack Lewis Construction, which then led to a 37-year career at Cincinnati Floor Company, where he installed commercial flooring and retired in 2005. During this time, he was a Union Carpenter and was an important part of his career.
Jimmy met Diana Kay Stroud as childhood friends living next door to each other in Hooven, Ohio, attending the same grade school and high school. They started dating in 1964, got married in 1965, and then went on to have three children: Lori, Jeni, and Philip.
Jimmy was a bright, thoughtful, and gentle man whose technical skills and mathematical mind inspired him to pursue a vast range of hobbies, including motorcycle riding, fishing, woodworking, metalworking, model airplanes, building kites, stained glass, and clay pottery. He was respected by all who met him, given his quiet, humble demeanor that contrasted with his formidable height. Jimmy was precise, measuring twice and cutting once. He could repair any engine, appliance, or broken toy put in front of him.
Once retired, Jimmy and Diana moved to Sun City West, Arizona, where they actively engaged in new hobbies and built lasting friendships. In particular, Jimmy enjoyed bowling, woodworking, metalworking, computer club, clay pottery, jewelry club, rock hunting, and golfing.
Jimmy was predeceased by his son, Philip Palmer, his brother, Darrel Palmer, and his mother and father. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane, his children Lori Trimble, Jeni Christoffersen and her husband, Jeff; Patrick Trimble, Danielle Matson; and his grandchildren, Sr Gabriel Marie Trimble, Gregory Trimble, Jacob Trimble, Michael Palmer, and Madalyn Corya. Jimmy is held dearly by his loving in-laws, Brenda and David Pickles, and Pammy Sayers.
