Gerald Wayne Powell, 77, Passed away on August 5th, 2025, at the Veterans Community Living center in Augusta, GA. He was a resident of Stockbridge, GA.
Born on March 8th 1948 in Shelby, Mississippi, Gerald lived on a farm at first then lived in many states as he grew up. He did an apprenticeship for plumbing and air conditioning, then he formed his own major apartment complex management company. He served in the Army and went to Vietnam where he earned many medals. He remained a patriot and a loyal friend all his life. He Helped everyone when he saw a need.
Gerald is survived by his daughter, Valerie Millican and son-in-law James Millican and four grandchildren: Elizabeth Milligan, Rebecca Millican-Waterman, Thurman Millican and Joshua Millican. Two great-grandchildren blessed his life: Henley Millican and Noah Waterman. Siblings included Barbara Brooks, Kenneth Powell, James Powell and Rebecca Powell. A host of nephews and nieces who called him the "fun" uncle are already missing him. Preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Nora Powell.
Services will be on August 8th, 2025, at 10:30 am at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Gerald loved all kinds of music, especially country and gospel. He played his guitar and sang. He was a wonderful artist and did custom paintings of local businesses for owners. Gerald has completed his life's journey, but his passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and strangers whose lives were touched by him.
