Gerald M. Sheffer, age 88, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at his residence. He was born on October 29, 1936, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late Donald and Anna (Dudding) Sheffer.
Gerald was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge # 2555 in Mount Vernon. He loved socializing and being part of the Fairway Condo's. Gerald enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, and woodworking. Most of all he loved being around his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Gregg Sheffer; longtime companion, Shirley Slaughter; grandchildren, Tessa (Greg) Schmidt, Rowan (Dylan) Mackin, Kiera Schmidt; brother, Dale Sheffer; nephews, Steve (Anne) Sheffer, David (Beth) Sheffer; niece, Cathy (David) Weiss; step-children, Lori (Rob) Kennedy, Pam (Mark) Hinkens, J.R. Slaughter, Jill (Bob) Sutton-Skelton; Step-grandchildren, Bobby (Stephanie), Kyle, Zak, Alexa, T.J., Luke, Lea, Nichole (Jared), Summer (Tyler), Samantha, Skylar, Zoey (Jonathan), Ella, Kane, Ensley, and Blake.
Along with his parents, Gerald is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Sheffer; sister, Jean Smiler; step great granddaughter, Sawyer.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 2-4 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home; 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice; 2 Easton Oval #110 Columbus, Ohio, 43219.
