He then followed his passion for driving and became an over-the-road driver for many years. While driving, he met and married Donna Ashcraft. This union blessed Maurice and Donna with two sons, Trevor Daniel and Jeremiah Michael. To be more present in his sons' lives, he took a job driving for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), where he remained employed until his health began to decline.

Later in life, he was a member of and faithfully served at Family Cathedral of Praise. Maurice moved to Detroit, MI, and resided there for many years before his mother moved him back to Dallas in March of 2023. He was lovingly looked after and cared for by her, and she remained by his side until he departed this Earth.
