Geraldine "Gerry" West Clepper, 90, of
Tomball, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025. She was born to the late Leo and Viola Spell West on April 14, 1934, in Tomball. Gerry graduated from Tomball High School in 1952, where she was voted Class Favorite. She also, was Cheerleader, and played drums in the band. She was in the Junior and Senior play. She also won State in Typing and Shorthand and ranked 3rd in her graduating class losing Salutatorian by just 1/1000th of a point.
Gerry married her high school sweetheart, Arlis Clepper, after graduation thus forgoing an academic scholarship to Blinn College. When she first married she became a legal secretary working for Howard Klein, Attorney at Law, in Tomball. Gerry later became a school secretary to Principal LeRoy Poteet in order to spend more time with her girls. When her girls were grown she went back to the legal world as a secretary and paralegal to Houston attorney, Mickey Matkin. Upon leaving the law firm, in the early 80's, Gerry purchased and operated ARC's office supply store. During this period of time she became an active member of Tomball Chamber of Commerce, as well as Tomball Business and Professional Women's Club and Downtown Merchants Association. She worked there for many years until Gerry and Arlis decided to sell the business and retire. However, she soon discovered retirement did not suit her. Gerry became a part-time receptionist at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball. Once the Klein Funeral home completed their Champion Forest location, Gerry took her skills' to the new Klein location where she went on to stay for over 15 years, whereupon, she retired for good.
Gerry and Arlis were both members of First Baptist Church of Tomball where she occasionally played piano during her high school years. She was active in, and on, the board of Tomball ISD PTO, as well a Girl Scout Leader and a lifetime member of Spring Creek County Historical Association of the Tomball Museum.
Preceded in Death by her husband, Arlis, of 59 years, 11 months and 19 days. Her parents Leo and Viola West, and brother in law and sister in law, Johnnie and Peggy Clepper and nephew Darrell Clepper.
She is survived by daughters, Becky Clepper, Kay Glasscock and son in law Wayne Glasscock, granddaughters, Leslie Guynes and husband Kerry; Joli Stone and great grandsons Channing Reddehase, Randon and Rylan Guynes; brother Ron West and wife Mary, nieces Wendi Davis and husband Lewis, Misti DeMargel and husband Matt, Amy Wildermuth and husband Jeff; Debbie Clepper. Nephews, Kurt West and David Clepper.
