Born in Cambridge, Maryland, the daughter of Lola Mapp and John Major, Sr. was one of 13 children. She graduated from Mace's Lane High School, and earned her nursing degree from Delaware Technical and Community College.
Fondly known as "Ms. Geri", she was a Licensed Practical Nurse for Bayada Healthcare prior to her retirement. She took great pride in helping and bringing joy to special-needs children.
Geraldine was very spiritual and devoted to her Baptist faith, conducting her own daily Bible Study and sharing her faith with others. She was friendly and outgoing with a contagious laugh and a heart of gold. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, game shows, puzzles, word searches, and spending time with family, especially her adoring grandchildren. She also enjoyed plants, flowers, and visiting tropical locations like The Bahamas and Hawaii, which gave her peace and tranquility.
In addition to her late parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by four sisters (Eva, Ella, Nettie, Marie) and three brothers (Linwood, Layfield, John Jr.). She is survived by: two loving children, Carla and Keith Flamer; daughter-in-law Kamesha Medley-Flamer; two grandchildren, Carlo and Marina Flamer; five sisters (Rosalie, Lucille, Estelle, Eunice, Saura); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Williams Funeral Home and Burial Services. Services are private.
Memorial contributions in Geraldine's memory and honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
