Geraldine Mae "Gerrie" Helling

The family of Geraldine Mae Helling of Edmond, OK, is saddened to announce her passing on February 28, 2026 at the age of 93. Gerrie was born in Dallas Center, Iowa on February 22, 1933; the daughter of Jerome and Minnie Renfrow.

She attended school in Bagley, Iowa and graduated from Bagley High School. She completed secretarial training in Des Moines, IA, where she met her husband, Duane Helling. They were married for 45 years until his death in 1997. Gerrie was a long time member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She and Duane were active members of Joi De Vie Dance Club. She loved sewing, crafting and entertaining. She enjoyed her years of volunteering at "The Christmas Connection" in Oklahoma City and at the Oklahoma Spine Hospital in Edmond.

Gerrie was preceded in death by her brothers, Lyle Renfrow of Bagley, IA and Eugene Renfrow of Perry, IA.

Gerrie is survived by her children: daughter, Sonjia Helling of Plano, TX; son Steven Helling and wife Vanesa of Fort Myers Beach, FL; daughter-in-law Janie Helling of Haslet, TX; daughter Andrea Ohmann and husband Gregg of Oklahoma City, OK; and nephew Jerome Renfrow and wife Cheri of

Falmouth, MA. Grandchildren: Ryan Helling of Roanoke, TX; Brent Helling and wife Suzanne of Haslet, TX; Eric Ohmann and wife Anna of Roanoke, TX; Kyle Ohmann of Edmond, OK; Mitchell Ohmann and wife Shannon of Choctaw, OK; and Allison Helling of Plano, TX. Great-grandchildren: Reese and Breck Ohmann of Edmond, OK; Bristol Helling of Roanoke, TX; Jack and Lucienne Helling of Haslet, TX; Hudson, Hunter and Leah Ohmann of Roanoke, TX; Bennett and Bowen Ohmann (and a grandson to be born in September) of Choctaw, OK.

Gerrie's family want to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff from Veraden Assisted Living Center and Legacy Hospice for their support and care during her final days.

Services will be held in the chapel at Crawford Buchanan Funeral Home on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
