Geraldine (Newell) LaBonte, 88, of Gardner, passed away peacefully Friday, September 3, 2021, in UMass Memorial Medical Center-Memorial Campus, Worcester.
Born in Simon, Oklahoma, on August 1, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Audie and Elnora (Jones) Newell. Geraldine was employed at Pine Mill in Gardner, Ray's Plastic in Winchendon, and the Gardner State Hospital in the Dietary Department until her retirement.
During her retirement, Geraldine enjoyed cooking, making crafts, yard sales, going to Rietta Ranch, and reading. She was a very loving, devoted mother who always put her children first. Anyone that knew her knew how much of a wonderful caring person she was. Geraldine will be deeply missed by her family and her friends.
Geraldine is survived by her husband, Normand LaBonte, whom they had just celebrated 71-years of marriage on September 2; two sons, Ronald LaBonte and his wife Michelle, and Rodney LaBonte, both of Gardner; two daughters, Darlene Bernier and Kathleen Maynard, both of Athol; six grandchildren, Kim West and her husband Brett of Florida, Jason Garner and his wife Karey of Gardner, Craig LaBonte of Gardner, Jeffrey Hullette of North Carolina, Robert Howlett of Gardner and Anthony LaBonte of Georgia; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son, Richard LaBonte, who died in April 2000; two brothers, A.J. and Melvin Newell; and two sisters, Imogene Fields, and Christine Supianoski.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 13, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. in Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
A Calling Hours will be held Monday, September 13, 2021, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Salmon VNA and Hospice, 37 Birch Street, Milford, MA 01757. Please reference in memory of Geraldine LaBonte.
