Gilbert Henry Kahle, 84, of Sparta, IL; born on January 13, 1941 in Walsh, IL the son of Louis and Lillian (née, Bambauer) Kahle; passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at home.

Gilbert graduated from Sparta High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. When he returned from the service, Gilbert worked at Spartan Printing for 5 years, Peabody Coal Company for 20 years, and then Wiegmann for 8 years. He loved spending time with the love of his life, Julie. They traveled on many cruises together and enjoyed the simple things in life, always by each other's side. Gilbert liked to be outdoors, whether it was farming, fishing, hunting, or boating/water skiing at Lake Kincaid. He loved his dogs, especially his yellow lab that liked to catch fish, and his two Australian Shepherds that followed him everywhere on his four wheeler.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years – Julie (née, Borth) Kahle of Sparta, IL to whom he married at St. John Lutheran Church in Baldwin in 1962; sister-in-law – Dixie May of Reno, NV; niece – Jennifer Kahle of Texas; nephew – Daniel Kahle of Springfield, IL; numerous cousins and friends.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Nevin Kahle.
