Dr. Gilbert Stillman "Skipper" Macvaugh, III, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was 54 years old. Skipper was a dedicated member of the Mississippi Board of Psychology and held the prestigious title of Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology. He was also Board Certified in Forensic Psychology. A lifelong learner and passionate about his field, Skipper completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Forensic Psychology, Law & Psychiatry Program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA. He earned his Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology, as well as both a Master of Science and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. His contributions to the filed of psychology were far-reaching, and he was known for his expertise, kindness, and commitment to helping others. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Skipper was a man who loved life. He had an adventurous spirit and a love for fishing, spending many joyful hours with his lifelong friends from Greenville and his fishing buddies. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Gilbert Stillman Macvaugh, Jr. and Ann Hogan Macvaugh. Skipper is survived by his sons, Gilbert Stillman Macvaugh, IV and Wilson Byars Macvaugh; his brother, David Christopher Macvaugh (Tori); his sister, Courtney Macvaugh Roland (Matt); his dear friend, Kristen Craig Nipper; and countless friends and family members who will miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held at 11 am at Mortimer Funeral Home on Tuesday January 21st, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. James Episcopal Church 1026 S. Washington Ave. Greenville, MS 38701.
