Ann Hogan Macvaugh, 81, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024 at her home in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2024 in Greenville Cemetery,
Greenville, MS. Mortimer Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Ann was born in Roanoke, VA on July 30, 1943. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Gilbert S. Macvaugh Jr.; mother, Alene Milton Hogan; father, Curtis Leon Hogan; and brother, Douglas Martin Milton.
She is survived by her three children, David C. Macvaugh (Tori Hughes), Dr. Gilbert S. Macvaugh III, Courtney Merideth Roland (Matt), and 5 grandsons, Carter, Reeves, and Judson Merideth, Gil IV and Wilson Macvaugh, and one granddaughter, Victoria Ann Macvaugh.
When Ann was not working she was involved in local organizations in
Greenville, MS including Greenville Rotary Club, No Name Club, The Highland Club, and Junior Auxillary in which she was crowned Queen in 2009. Ann immersed herself in her church, St. James Episcopal Church of Greenville, where she served as a worship leader and pillar of the community.
Ann's favorite pastime was spent with her beloved grandchildren. She involved herself in all of their daily activities and was their biggest fan at all of their events. Ann welcomed her first granddaughter and relocated to the Emerald Coast to spend her final 17 months of life with her in an area where she and her late husband spent many vacations with their own children spanning 40 years.
Ann was a licensed, certified social worker and psychotherapist. She received her undergraduate degree in 1967 from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. She earned a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in 1970.
Ann was a proud member of the Academy of Certified Social Worker, as well as the National Association of Social Workers, Magnolia Chapter in Jackson, MS.
She was a past faculty member of the International Center for Clubhouse Development in New York City, NY.
She finished her career and provided virtual psychotherapy with BetterHelp online therapy platform from November 2021 to the day before her passing on November 2, 2024
Ann also served as a clinical social worker with The Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic in
Greenville, MS from April 2013 to August 2016. Her passion for the mental health services provided to veterans with psychological support staff; as well as, emergency room physicians at the local hospital and the Jackson V.A. (U.M.M.C) was unmatched.
She was the Director of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program (PSR) at the Delta Community Mental Health Center in Greenville. She served as Director of Washington Square Clubhouse, DCMHS from 1996 to 2012.
Ann was proud of her time as Regional Coordinator for DCMHS in Washington, Bolivar, Sharkey, and Issaquena counties from 1989 to 1995.
She was a clinical social worker for Delta Community Mental Health Services from 1971 to 1974 and 1985 to 1987.
Ann also proudly served as Consultant in Program Development at DCMHS from 1974 to 1985; as well as, Consultant to Bolivar County Hospital in Cleveland, MS from 1971 to 1989; Delta Medical Center from 1971 to 1989; Grenada County Hospital from 1974 to 1977; North Sunflower County Hospital in Ruleville, MS from 1972 to 1986; Northwest MS Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, MS in 1974; South Washington County Hospital in Hollandale, MS from 1972 to 1986; Northwest MS Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, MS in 1974; Bolivar County Hospital in Cleveland, MS from 1971 to 1989; Alcohol Drug and Treatment Program, Delta Medical Center in Greenville from 1985 to 1988; and Psychiatric Social Worker at the Regional Mental Health and Retardation Center in Oxford, MS in 1970.
Ann dedicated her life to helping others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
