Gill Joseph Scioneaux

Gill, age 74, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024. He was a native of St. James, LA. and a resident for over 34 years of Springfield, LA. Gill was a craftsman woodworker by trade. For over 20 years, he was the maintenance supervisor with St. Margaret Catholic Church, as well as St. Thomas Chapel. Gill was an avid camper, and he thoroughly enjoyed watching old time westerns on television. Father Jamin David and Father Paul Gros were two close friends of his. Gill was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend who is already dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gill is survived by his loving wife of over 51 years, Darlene Torres Scioneaux; his sister, Mary Anne Poirrier; fur babies, Sissy, and Thunder; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gill is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Olivia Scioneaux, Sr.; sister, Nellie Morvant and her husband Irving; brothers, Melvin Scioneaux, Jr., James Scioneaux, Paul Robert Scioneaux and his wife Evelie, and Raymond Scioneaux Sr.; brother-in-law, Floyd Poirrier; father and mother in law, Joseph Torres Sr. and Dot; sister-in-law, Jamie Hadley; brother-in-law, Kevin 'Zippy' Torres; along with his all-time favorite fur baby, Half-Pint.
In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations please be made to The St. Thomas Chapel Renovation Fund, care of St. Margaret Catholic Church, 30300 Catholic Hall Rd, Hammond, LA 70403.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Rosary at St. Margaret's Catholic Church on Saturday, December 14, 2024 starting at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
