Giuseppina "Josephine" / "Pina" (Procopio) DiGiorgio, 84, of Vineland, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at home under the loving care of her children and surrounded by her loved ones.
A beloved, devoted and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, relative and friend, Giuseppina was born June 27, 1940 in Montauro, Italy, the first of eight children to the late Giovanni and Maria Procopio. She immigrated to Vineland in 1959 with her mother and siblings to reunite with her father Giovanni. She married Francesco DiGiorgio in 1962.
She developed a strong work ethic at an early age caring for her siblings while in Italy, then working in the clothing industry in Vineland. After raising her children, Giuseppina returned to work and was employed with the Vineland Board of Education until her retirement. She will be remembered as a strong woman who always carried herself with grace, warmth, and dignity. She took immense pride in raising her three children and helping to raise the joys of her life, her six grandchildren. She was entirely devoted and dedicated to her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, always preparing delicious meals and specialties for family and friends. Pina was a wonderful, kindhearted and selfless soul, no one would leave her home hungry or without a take home food package in hand. She will be sadly missed beyond measure by her family and friends. Her family will continue to honor her and will forever cherish their mama and nonna.
She is survived by her children, Carmen DiGiorgio (Lisa), Frank DiGiorgio (Rose) and Lisa Simkins (Brian); six treasured grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Frank, Elisabeth, Jessica and Brian. She is also survived by her brothers, Frank Procopio (Mandy), Leon Procopio (Fifi), Anthony Procopio (Kathy) and Joseph Procopio (Donna); her brother-in-law, Al Cassisi; her sister-in-law, Stephanie Procopio, and her nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives in the USA and Italy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years Francesco DiGiorgio; her parents Giovanni and Maria Procopio; her in-laws Carmelo and Grazia DiGiorgio; her sister, Rose Cassisi; her brothers Gregory Procopio, Sr. and John Procopio, Jr.; her nephew John Cassisi; her sister-in-law Barbara Procopio; her aunts Sister Gemma Procopio & Rosa Stagliano (Nicola); uncle Joseph Procopio (Lillian) and cousin Frank Gigliotti.
A church visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12 from 8:30am to 10:30am followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church Of Sacred Heart, 1010 East Landis Avenue, Vineland. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
