Gladys Pearl Potts, age 101, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025, at her home in Little Orleans, MD.
Born Saturday, October 6, 1923, in Westernport, MD, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Riggleman and Elizabeth Norris.
Gladys was a member of St. Peter and St. Patrick Catholic Church and a member of the St. Peter Ladies Women’s Group. She enjoyed baking the apple dumplings for St. Peter Catholic Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary D. Benfield of Boonsboro, MD, Margie M. Mann and husband Belvin of Hancock, MD, Helen L. Bingaman and husband Donald of Hancock, MD; two sons, James Robert Potts of Maryland, William E. Potts and wife Diana of Flintstone, MD; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Leininger of Lebanon, PA; and one daughter-in-law, Martha Wilhide of Hagerstown, MD.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James A. Potts, Jr; two sons, Paul Potts and Francis Potts; one grandson, Tommy Potts; one great-grandson, Matthew Potts; one son-in-law, Jay Benfield; six brothers; and six sisters.
The family would like to give special thanks to Patti Robinson for her special care and the Hospice of Washington County for their great care and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750. A rosary service will be held at 7:30p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 16 E. High Street, Hancock, MD, with one hour visitation prior. Father Jack Lombardi, Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Peter Catholic Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gladys’ name can be made to St. Peter Catholic Church 16 E. High Street, Hancock, MD 21750 and/or Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
