The funeral service for Gladys Voegele, 90, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 10:30am, Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Holthus officiating. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Aberdeen. Gladys died Friday, June 2, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.
Gladys Guthmiller was born January 20, 1933, to August and Malitha (Walth) Guthmiller on a farm east of Hosmer, SD. She attended rural school and high school in the Hosmer area.
On August 30, 1953, Gladys was united in marriage to Elmer Voegele in Hosmer. They made their home on the farm for one year before moving to Aberdeen, SD. Gladys worked at the public library and drove the Book Mobile for many years. After retirement, she and Elmer enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Elmer passed away on October 30, 2006.
Gladys was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, where she was on the Altar Guild for many years. She enjoyed getting together with family for birthdays and holidays. She also liked spending time with friends and former employees to reminisce about the past. Gladys was an avid doll collector.
Grateful for having shared Gladys' life are her brother-in-law, Myron (Janice) Voegele, and her sisters-in-law, Ida Adam and Irene Neusma.
Preceding Gladys in death are her parents, August and Malitha Guthmiller, her husband, Elmer Voegele, and her siblings, August Guthmiller and Alice Voegele.
