Gleda Cramer of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on September 3, 2021. She was born in Washington, Indiana. She started working at the Greyhound Bus Station after graduation from Washington High School. She moved to Bloomington, Indiana when she was 30 years old and managed the Greyhound Bus Station in Bloomington for 33 years. She was known for being very smart and for her strong work ethic. She taught many a young employee the bus business. She was also known for her kindness toward numerous college students. This kindness often included not only advice and comfort but even giving them money for bus fare to get home.

She was married to the love of her life, Galen (Lee) Cramer, for 20 years. They had three daughters, Gail Cramer, who precedes her in death, Gloria (husband Bill) Lewis of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and Glenda (husband Daniel) Nigro of Greenwood, Indiana. She retired and moved to Greenwood to provide live-in care for her granddaughter Lindsay Caron (who now lives in Indianapolis) and became especially close to her while Lindsay's mother traveled for work. In addition to Lindsay, she has six other grandchildren: Michancy Cramer, Tabitha Farr, Theo Boone, Princess Drazkowski, Precious Cramer, and Zephyr Cramer. She also has several great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles (Lowell) Standley, and Gerald Standley and one sister, Geraldine (Jeri) Wood. Gleda was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church. Her interests included drawing, reading at least a book a week, working cross-word puzzles, playing euchre, and caring for her own dogs and dog-sitting many grand-dogs over the years. In her later years she continued to live in Greenwood, first in her own home and then at Country Charm and Greenwood Meadows. She took an interest in everyone she met and was much loved by all.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Christian Church, 381 N. Bluff Rd., Greenwood. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood. Memorial contributions can be made to Friends of Indianapolis Animal Care Services Foundation, 7399 N. Shadeland Ave., #117, Indianapolis, IN 46250, or at friendsofindyacc.org. Arrangements entrusted to Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, Indianapolis Chapel.

I worked for Gleda for four years at the Greyhound station in Bloomington. She took me under her wing and taught me well. She became a dear friend to me during that time and I will never forget her kindness to me. I regret losing touch after I moved out of state, she really meant a lot to me.
