Glen LeRoy Gabel III, 53, of Rockford, IL, went into Glory on Monday, September 4, 2023 in his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born April 25, 1970 in Beloit, WI, the son of Glen LeRoy and Virginia A. (Polizzi) Gabel Jr. Glen was a 1988 graduate of Guilford High School where he played basketball and football. He was also a graduate of Arizona State University receiving his degree in Sociology and Philosophy.
Glen was a keen adventurer and developer of relationships throughout his teaching, tutoring and mentoring career. He was a very intelligent and articulate person and a voracious reader. Glen was rich in all the things that really mattered in life.
Survivors include his brother, Benjamin Michael Gabel I; mother, Virginia Gabel-Polizzi; father, Glen L. Gabel Jr; nephew, Benjamin Michael (Rachel) Gabel II; grandparents, Glen LeRoy and Elaine Gabel Sr.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom he loved immensely.
A Celebration of Glen's life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Rock Valley Bible Church, 7721 N. Alpine Road, Loves Park, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to Northern Illinois Hospice.

Glen was the best guy I have ever known. He was my best friend for over 30 years. I miss ya everyday buddy.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, Virginia. I remember your boys in school and what a wonderful mother you were in loving them and guiding them them. Many fond memories.God bless you and Ben.
