Wadsworth -- Glen E. Hoerger, age 91, of Wadsworth, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, March 16, 2023, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman, following a period of declining health.
Glen was born on August 28, 1931, in Wadsworth, Ohio, to the late Elden and Lorena (Herman) Hoerger. His mother passed away at a young age, and he was raised by his step-mother Matilda Hoerger. He graduated from Wadsworth High School class of 1949, and served in the Army in Stuttgart, Germany in the mid 1950's. He married Janet Friedt on September 27, 1957, at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, and they have been happily married for the last 65+ years.
He grew up on the family farm in Wadsworth, and carried on his father's legacy by farming until 1994. He served on the Medina County Soil and Water Conservation District and humbly accepted the Conservation Steward of the Year award in 1964 and 2008. He was heavily involved in the Ohio Forestry Association and a member of ECOFA. He planted more than 12,500 seedlings in his retirement. Glen loved the Lord and his creation.
Glen enjoyed woodworking, and had worked on many projects with and for his kids and his grandkids. He also enjoyed gardening and flowers. Glen and Janet took a vacation every year after harvest, such as a road trip up to Alaska, a mule trip in Yosemite National Park, and a hot air balloon ride on his 80th birthday, just to name a few.
Surviving are his wife, Janet, of Wadsworth; four children, Chris (Dave) Boone of Seville, Faith Williams of Wadsworth, John (Kim) Hoerger of Minerva, and Jeff (Debby) Hoerger of Wadsworth; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jim (Jan) Friedt of Arden, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his step-mother, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dale, Earl, and Fred Hoerger, and his son-in-law, Mark Williams.
Friends may call from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9282 Acme Rd., Seville.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday morning at the church with Pastor Tina Crog officiating. Private burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth.
Memorials may be made to Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9282 Acme Rd., Seville, OH 44273.
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 KJV.

Dear Janet and family,

We were deeply saddened to learn about Glen. Our friendship spans more than 85 years as students at Centralized. His older brothers and my older brothers go back almost 95 years. To us, the Hoerger family always was and would never end. But, as life is so designed, there is an end and we will all join Glen sooner or later. In the meantime, we grieve with you and offer you our most caring condolences.

Blessings.

Caesar and Lynda
