Glen I. Patterson Jr., a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on January 17, 2025, at the OSU Medical Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born on September 16, 1966, in Columbus, Ohio. He brought joy and laughter to those around him for nearly fifty-nine wonderful years.
Glen was a remarkable individual, known for his kindness and generosity. He dedicated over eighteen years of his life to the Attorney General's Office for the state of Ohio and was serving as the VoIP Lead at the Ohio Department of Administrative Services at the time of his passing. His career was marked by his unwavering commitment to helping others, earning him the reputation of having assisted too many people to count. Glen always managed to light up any room with his great sense of humor, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him cherished the moments spent in his company.
Education was important to Glen, and he graduated from Franklin Heights High School in 1984. He furthered his learning at Columbus State and Franklin University, showcasing his dedication to personal and professional growth. Even in his youth, he shined brightly, winning first place in a toddler contest for looks and appeal—an early indication of the charm that would define his life.
In matters of the heart, Glen was not only devoted to his family but also to his beloved cat, Skywalker. His family tree includes his loving mother, Carol DeMatteo; his brother, John Patterson; and his step-mother, Irebelle Patterson. He was a cherished step-brother to Tim and Gene Laws and a towering presence among many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. He also shared special bonds with those who had come before him, including his father Glen Patterson Sr. and step-father Carmine DeMatteo.
Though Glen had a playful spirit, reflected in his lifelong passion for Star Wars, he also made meaningful connections through his explorations in life. He once joined the ROTC program, following in his brother's footsteps, but humorously opted out after finding the uniforms too scratchy—another testament to his lighthearted nature.
As we mourn his loss, we gather together to celebrate Glen’s life—a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for everyone around him.
