We gather in remembrance of Glenda Nadine Holland, 71, whose life began on August 18, 1953, in Evansville, Indiana, and concluded its earthly journey on the evening of November 11, 2024. Glenda was more than just a devout Christian; she was a guiding light, deeply committed to her faith and the wellbeing of those around her.
Her early acceptance of Christ as her Lord and Savior shaped her life's pursuit of knowledge and service. Glenda studied at Lockyear College to become a Qualified Medication Aide, dedicating herself to caring for others in both body and spirit. Her musical talents blessed congregations at McFarland Baptist Church and Bethany Apostolic Church, and later at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where she played the organ with a spirit that lifted all who heard.
Glenda's path in ministry, beginning under the leadership of Pastor Randall K. Lander, Sr., led to her becoming licensed in 2000 and ordained in 2002. Known for her sweet nature and boundless love, she was particularly cherished for her way with children, nurturing their faith with gentle affection and sincere encouragement.
"Mama G" as she was affectionately called by many loved animals, especially horses. She could be found watching old westerns like Gunsmoke and Bonanza, Hallmark movies, Kendrick Brothers movies such as Overcomer and War Room, and Bishop Noel Jones videos. Her favorite thing to do other than being a taste-tester for Jon, her "private chef", was studying the Word of God.
Preceded in death by her cherished parents, Helen (Smith) Holland and Nathaniel Holland, and her brothers, John Bush and David Holland, Glenda now joins them in God's eternal embrace. She is survived by her loving son, Jonathan Holland, who continues to carry forward her spirit and teachings. Also to carry her legacy are her grandsons Jéan and Elisha (Danielle), her great-grandchildren Bryson Thomas, Kinsley Reneé and Zaiden Carter, "godson" LeVar, "adopted granddaughter" Monique Pierce, long-time friend Kitty Cabell and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
To honor Glenda's life, we invite family and friends to a celebration of life on November 23, 2024 at Victory Temple COGIC 121 E. Maryland St, Evansville, IN 47715. As we reflect on her journey, let Romans 12:2 KJV guide our hearts: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." May Glenda's life continue to inspire transformation and love in us all.
