Glendia Kay Mara, 83, of Decatur went to be with her Lord Thursday, September 18th, 2025 in Bridgeport, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be at a later date, with visitation Monday, September 22nd 5:30- 7:30 p.m. at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Kay was born March 6th, 1942 to Howard Glenn and Velma Minilla (Mitchell) Prestage in Gainesville, Texas. She was united in marriage July 1st, 1961 to Jerry Lee Mara in Gainesville, Texas. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Decatur Church. Kay was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Velma Prestage; her husband of 61 years before his passing earlier this year.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Perry Mara of Decatur; her daughters, Sheri Mara of Wilmington, NC, and Julie Britt and husband Buck of Sante Fe, NM; her grandchildren, Matthew & Lynne Britt of Decatur, David & Elena Britt of Albuquerque and Ty Britt of Sante Fe; great-grandchild, Ellison Britt of Decatur; extended family members and a host of friends.
Memorials can be made to Wise County Meals on Wheels, Wise County Special Olympics, and First Baptist Decatur Library.
