Glenn Edward Collins, affectionately known as PaPaw to his loved ones, left this world unexpectedly on May 8, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on April 29, 1943, in Beech Grove, Indiana, Glenn was a man whose presence brought warmth and camaraderie to every room he entered. He departed in the comfort of his home in Greenwood, Indiana, surrounded by the memories of a life richly lived.
Glenn's journey through life was marked by his unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and passions. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Charlene, who was his steadfast companion through the ebbs and flows of life. His legacy continues through his son, Glenn Edward Collins Jr. and his wife Melissa, his three adoring grandsons, Elijah and Daniel Whitaker and Charlie Collins, who will miss their PaPaw's boundless love and guidance. Glenn also leaves behind his brothers, William (Marlene) and Danny (Mari) Collins, his sister Anne White, and a host of nieces and nephews. His life was built upon the strong foundation laid by his parents, Chester and Alberta Collins, who preceded him in death.
Before Glenn's career as an over-the-road truck driver spanning over many years, with the last two decades dedicated to Fed Ex, he was a proud Vietnam Navy Veteran. His work ethic and dedication to his job were matched only by his ability to make long-lasting friendships wherever he went. Glenn's CB handle, "Snoopy," became a well-known moniker in the trucking community, a testament to his affable nature and his love for the open road.
A man of diverse interests, Glenn's passion for classic cars and motorcycles often found him tinkering in the garage or attending car shows, where he shared stories and laughter with fellow enthusiasts. The roar of engines at the Indianapolis 500, where he earned his Security Team Gold Badge, was music to his ears, and he never missed a chance to be part of the iconic race's festivities.
Glenn's character was the epitome of loving, friendly, and thoughtful. He never met a stranger, and his ability to connect with people was one of his most remarkable traits. His family was the center of his universe, and he took every opportunity to create lasting memories with them.
As we bid farewell to Glenn Edward Collins, we celebrate a life lived with joy, generosity, and a heart that knew no bounds. His absence will be profoundly felt, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Glenn's story does not end here; it lives on in the countless lives he touched and the love he shared so freely. Rest in peace, dear PaPaw, until we meet again.
