Glenn Clark Edwards, age 89, passed away peacefully in his home on February 19, 2024.   

A native of Denver, he attended Asbury Elementary, Grant Junior High, and South High School, where he was an outstanding student and athlete. Following high school graduation, he attended the University of Denver on an athletic scholarship where he was an exceptional baseball pitcher for the Pioneers. After graduating with a degree in Business Education and Administration, Glenn played with the Hays, Kansas semi-professional baseball team. From 1957-1963 he served in the U.S. Army/U.S. Air Force Reserves and was honorably discharged as sergeant first class.  In 1958 he was a business teacher for the Denver Public Schools at Merrill Junior High where he also taught Semantics and had 2 students who placed 9th and 11th, respectively, in the National Spelling Bees. Glenn began work for United Air Lines in 1967 as a flight operations instructor where he developed and wrote training programs for B-727 and DC8 aircraft, flew training flights as flight engineer, was the project leader for the DC-10 training project and developed instructional program and operating procedures, receiving an Award of Merit for the B-727 instructional program.  In 1970 he returned to education and after four years as Department Coordinator and teacher in the business at Cherry Creek High School, he became the Director of Vocational Education for the Cherry Creek District for 20 years, adding on the job of Director of Athletics and Activities the last five years.  He created many innovative vocational programs for students and worked cooperatively with other suburban school districts in creating a cross-district collaboration for vocational education programs. After retirement, Glenn worked part-time for the University of Northern Colorado as a mentor for students in the teacher training program at the Center for Urban Education.

 He is survived by his wife of 57 years Anne Brennecke Edwards, his beloved daughters Tracy Edwards Konkol and her husband Steven Konkol, and Alison Buchanan and her husband Steve Buchanan, and his treasured grandchildren Ethan McNamee and Chloe McNamee, Logan Buchanan and Gavin Buchanan.  

Glenn loved sports and was an avid follower his children’s athletic endeavors, of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies, and the University of Denver basketball team. Additionally, Glenn was a runner and a touch football player and a devoted golfer.  Glenn and Anne enjoyed wonderful travel experiences provided through his airline passes, including trips to Hawaii with the girls every other year and to 35 states.  After retirement, he and Anne traveled worldwide with trips to 35 countries. Additionally, Glenn was an avid reader of his extensive collection of non-fiction books on World War II, golf instruction and baseball history. The son of a professional musician, he loved dancing, going to the symphony and going to the theater.  He will be greatly missed by his family.
