Glenn Lightsey, 69, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at UF Health Flagler in St. Augustine, Florida, after a brief illness. Born on August 20, 1955, in St. Augustine, Glenn was the son of the late Eddie Roy Lightsey Sr. and Margaret "Beanie" Lightsey. He was a proud graduate of St. Augustine High School and held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, Summa cum laude. He was a lifelong resident of his beloved hometown.
Glenn dedicated his life to public service and community involvement. He began his law enforcement career with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. After his retirement, he continued his public service as a lead investigator with the 7th Judicial Circuit of the State Attorney's Office. Following a distinguished career in law enforcement, Glenn founded Lightsey Investigative Services, a private investigation firm. In addition to his work in law enforcement, Glenn was a passionate small business owner. He operated Lightsey's Christmas Trees and Lightsey's Pumpkins, becoming a beloved fixture of the community. He proudly provided the City of St. Augustine with the annual Christmas tree displayed in the Plaza during the Nights of Lights celebration-an enduring symbol of holiday spirit and community pride.
A man of deep faith, Glenn was a longtime and devoted member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, St. Augustine, Florida, where he served faithfully in many roles over the years. More than anything, Glenn cherished his family and found his greatest joy in spending time with them.
Glenn is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Vivian Severt Lightsey; sons Benjamin Lightsey of Daytona Beach and Dustin Lightsey (Heather) of Sebastian, FL; daughter Cheyenne Lightsey of St. Augustine; brother Lester Lightsey; grandchildren, Wyatt Leonard, Sunny Lynn, Zane Fisher, and Sawyer Atlas.
He was preceded in death by his father Eddie Roy Lightsey Sr., mother Margaret "Beanie" Lightsey, brothers Mike Lightsey, Eddie R Lightsey, Jr., Ferrell Lightsey; and a sister Linda Bartosik.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 22, 2025 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. A visitation, beginning at 10:00 a.m, will precede the services. Interment will be at Craig Memorial Park immediately following the services.
