Major Bruce T. Lightsey (USAF, ret.), 67, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025, at his home.
Born December 27, 1957, in Olympia, Washington, Major Lightsey was the son of the late Clovis Tann Lightsey and Alicia Dunn Lightsey. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1980 until 2000 and retired at the rank of Major. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree in mathematics from Clemson University and earned a MBA in Business Administration from Western New England College. Following his military retirement, he was employed by the Department of the Army in Huntsville from 2011 until 2019. Mr.Lightsey received the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal for his service as Deputy Chief of Staff for Resource Management, G-8, U.S. Army Material Command.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Oakes Lightsey of Huntsville; step children, Amanda Whitley and her husband Jamie Whitley of Sevierville, TN, Caroline Norris and her husband Phillip Norris of Ponca City, OK, and Joseph Lawson and his wife Tory Lawson of Olympia, WA; eight step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Fitzgerald of Atlanta, GA, Karen Lightsey of Smyrna, GA, and Allison Woolworth and her husband Greg Woolworth of Modesto, CA.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 4, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, GA. The Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 4.
