Obituary published on Legacy.com by Goble Funeral Home & Crematory on Aug. 1, 2025.
Glenn, AKA "Glennie" to many friends and family, crossed from this life to join his wife, Kathryn, and daughter, Patti, waiting just inside the Gates of Heaven to welcome him to eternal life. Loving family surrounded and held him as he drove his final victory lap.
Glenn was born on March 8, 1936, to Lorena (Lowers) Potter and Glenn E. Potter, Sr., in a little cabin at Limestone, PA. He loved telling stories about walking to his one-room schoolhouse early in the morning so he could help start the fire to warm the chilly building. He graduated from Clarion Area High School.
Glenn enjoyed a variety of activities, including hunting, boating, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, and stock car racing at local dirt tracks, where he met the lovely lady, he married. Glenn was united in marriage with Kathryn Kunselman on October 20, 1956. They welcomed three talented and treasured daughters into their lives over the next four years: Sandra (Sandy) Potter, Patti (Potter) Hook, and Carol (Potter) Hawk. Glenn didn't care that they didn't have sons; he taught the girls everything he knew about hunting, fixing cars, and home DIY.
Glenn began his work life by welding for a short period, then started his career at Citizens Utilities Company/Alltel, where he worked until retirement. He was known as the local telephone man in the Sligo area for many years until his transfer to a "desk job" in the office in New Bethlehem. He and Kathryn both retired from Citizens Utilities/Alltel.
Sadly, Kathryn passed away on January 10, 2012, due to complications of colon cancer. Glenn has missed her daily presence in his life. He was also predeceased by his middle daughter, Patti, on December 5, 2024 due to the aggressive progression of Parkinson's Disease.
In addition to his parents, wife, and daughter, Glenn was predeceased by his brother, Robert William "Buff" Potter, and sisters, Shirley Potter Master Poole, and Delores Potter Kahle, as well as nephews Lawrence "Mike" Kahle, Allen Kahle, Jeff Kahle, and William Master.
Along with daughters Sandra (Sandy) and Carol, Glenn is survived by grandsons Joshua Ferringer, Jeremy Ferringer, Joel Ferringer, Matthew Montag, Ryan Hawk, and Quinn Grabinski-Potter, and granddaughters Shannon Rumbarger, Shawna Feliciano, and Kayla Klingensmith. Glenn was blessed to be a great-grandfather to Samuel Ferringer, Isaiah Ferringer, Brian Ferringer, Chase Rumbarger, Karter Rumbarger, Colin Rumbarger, Liam Klingensmith, Katie Klingensmith, Jasper Klingensmith, Simon Klingensmith, and Maisie Montag. Glenn just became a great-great-grandfather in June to the youngest boy in the family lineage, Rhett Ferringer. On Sunday, July 27th, Glenn's eyes lit up and a smile softened his face as he held Rhett in his arms.
Glenn is also survived by sisters-in-law, Rose (Guy) Magness, Marilyn Kunselman, and Marge Potter. In addition, he has left behind many family and friends too numerous to mention, but for whom he cared dearly. We especially want to express our sincere appreciation for special family friend, Bethany Miller, who remained with the family and gently cared for Glenn as he took his final steps to the Gates of Heaven.
Per Glenn's wishes, he has been cremated, with arrangements being under the care of Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St. Clarion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Goble Funeral Home to help defray final expenses or to the
charity of your choice in Glenn's memory.
As a deacon of the Independent Assembly of God Church at Knox, PA, for more than 50 years, his absence will surely be noticed now that he has left the building and crossed over to the other side. A special Celebration of Life will be held at the church on August 24, 2025 at 3:00pm. The memorial gathering will be led by Pastor Tony Collura, Glenn's daughters, and other family members. We look forward to the participation of family and friends as we gather in love.
Special thanks to the staff at Shippenville Nursing and Rehabilitation who were attentive, respectful, and kind in providing care to Glenn during his very brief stay. You made a difference in big and small ways. Be blessed!
