Glinda Sue Heiney, 70, of Pace, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Sue was a graduate of the University of West Florida and Troy University. She devoted her career to educating young lives. Sue also served our country in the Naval Reserves for 8 years.
During the Spring of 1979, Sue met the love of her life, Chuck, in Pensacola, FL. They were married on December 22, 1979, in Agana, Guam, in a beautiful military style ceremony. Prior to his death, they shared many happy years together while Chuck served his country and relaxed into retirement.
Sue is preceded in death by her loving husband, Chuck Heiney; her parents, Dewey and Ruby Scruggs; sisters, Juanita Brown Webb, Gwendolyn Hobbs, Annie Watson, Lillie Pearl Jones, Sallie Chapman, Shirley Horrax and Rubie Cile Scruggs; and brothers, Dewey Scruggs Jr. and AC Scruggs.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Taryn Heiney (Travis Cheer) and Tabitha Kosmas (Joey); ten grandchildren, Chantel McClarnen, Brittani Fall (Kyle), Kaitlin Jernigan (Adam), Derek Steed, Abi Kosmas, Kenzie Cheer, Daniel Cheer (Kathrine), Mollie Cheer, Robby Kosmas, Chance Kosmas; twelve great grandchildren, Laycie, Kayleigh, Kylie, Alex, Sofia, Jaxon, Beauden, Avery, Everly, Raelynn, Cooper and Emma; and a bonus granddaughter, Rhea. Sue also leaves behind one brother, Floyd Scruggs, sister-in-law, Kathie Scruggs and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sue enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her love of family, she especially loved her 3 German Shepherds, Bear, Roxie and Precious.
Sue will lie in state at her home, 5749 Windermere Trace, Pace, FL on Thursday, January 2, 2025, Family welcome at 1 pm; Friends and Associates welcome at 3 pm. Visitation will end at 6 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Faith Chapel South (Beverly Parkway) on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10:45 am. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery (1300 East Hayes Street, Pensacola, FL 32503).
Pallbearers will be Derek Steed, Robby Kosmas, Chance Kosmas, Kyle Fall, Adam Jernigan, Dewey Scruggs, Mike Scruggs and Marty Steed.
Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, FL is in charge of arrangements.

I worked with Sue at Warrington Middle School for many years. We were on the same team. She always had a smile on her face. It sadden me when I heard about her passing. Please know that you have my sincere condolences.
