Gloria Ann (Susan) Hebert was called to eternal rest after a fall and medical coma on December 24, 2024, her favorite day of the year, Christmas Eve.
She was born on September 3, 1938 to Edward and Annie Susan in the farm community of Guy, Texas. Gloria was the proud flag bearer of the marching band and graduate of Needville High School – Class of '56. She has remained friends with several of her classmates, often meeting as "Chicks of '56".
Gloria met Joe, her longtime husband and partner at St. Anne's Catholic Church and were married at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville, Texas. She had moved to Houston after graduating from Southwestern Business College and her first job was with American General Insurance Company. This led to her career in the insurance profession as an administrator until her retirement.
Family survivors include her three children, Teresa Hebert, Mark Hebert and Renee Hebert; along with extended family, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hebert, and her sisters, Genevieve Susan Vrana and Rose Susan Britton.
Gloria will be remembered mostly for her ability to grow vegetables and fruit in her extensive backyard garden for more than 30 plus years. Her delicious turkey dinners were the highlight of many festivities.
She traveled the world with her children and made a heritage trip to Czechoslovakia with Rose, her sister. She contributed several Czech family stories to the publications of the Texas Czech Genealogical Society.
Many of her final years were spent playing and winning with an online computer "Fantasy Football Team" with her family and friends. Every single year, she generously shared large batches of assorted homemade cookies in Christmas tins that everyone would look forward to receiving.
Gloria will be missed greatly.
A service celebrating Gloria's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2025 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
For those wishing, please consider making a donation to the SPCA, an organization near and dear to Gloria's heart.
