Gordon Haverluck, 73, Surrey, ND, passed away, Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Gordon Jerome Haverluck was born January 9, 1951, the son of Vernon and Clarice (Flemming) Haverluck, in Minot, ND. He was raised and educated in Minot until the 9th grade when he moved to Baker, Montana. He graduated from Baker High School in 1969.
He enlisted in the United States Army on 1971. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1976. That remained important to him. He was very proud of his grandson, Trevor, when he enlisted in the Army National Guard.
He married Shirley Dunn in 1978. They made their home in Minot until 1980 when they moved to Surrey.
He worked for Coke for many years. He then worked at Trinity Health, Dakota Drug, and retired from Minot Public Schools in 2023. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Surrey.
He enjoyed working in the yard and had a green thumb; he planted trees and flowers and feed the birds and squirrels. He also enjoyed woodworking for a while. He loved taking Sunday drives with his wife to the casino. He loved playing cards with friends and was very competitive. Any time spent with his grandchildren was an absolute joy. He also loved his movies and watching TV with Shirley and talking about the day. His fur babies were a huge part of his life; he loved spoiling them with treats.
His loving family includes: wife of 45 years, children, Pamela (Tristan) Scheig, Crystal (Carl) Cree, Gordie (Nikki) Haverluck; grandchildren, Alexander, Trevor, Matayah, Avery, Ean; step-grandchildren, Cole, Rylan, Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Leighton, Mason; brothers, Daniel Haverluck, Ernie (Tina) Newman; sisters, Mary Mosser, Susan (Bob) Mosser, Kim (Jerry) Kuntz, Jodi (Tim) Meckle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Vernon Haverluck, Clarice Newman, Ernest Newman; sister, Gloria Emery; brother, Edward Haverluck; and his fur babies, Max and Charlie.
