Gordon Felix Walling was born on April 18th, 1927 in Palmer, Nebraska to parents Roy and Sara Walling as one of the six children, Vivian Smith(deceased), Bud Walling (deceased), Mary Hart(deceased), James (Jim) Walling and Monte Walling. He spent his younger years in Nebraska, then at 15, moved with his family to Felida in 1942.
He attended high school until he was drafted 1945 during the WWII. He was stationed at Fort Buchanan in Puerto Rico as a military motorcycle policeman.
He was honored the American Theater Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Sharp Shooters Medal and Honorable Service Label Button.
He was honorably discharged in January 1947. Gordon was always very proud of his service at United States Army and remembered his time in Puerto Rico fondly.
After moving back to Vancouver he completed Vancouver High School 1947.
He worked for Manning building supply and Brookside Block from where he retired as a foreman.
Gordon enjoyed a lifetime of hunting, fishing, clamming, camping, and woodworking building amazing items using hardwood sourced from wood pallets. He also enjoyed going to casinos, especially Spirit Mountain, OR, with his wife, Sachiko.
Gordon was preceded in death by his father and mother, sister Vivian, brother Bud, sister Mary and daughter Debbie by his first marriage.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sachiko,
His children from a previous marriage, daughters Fran Walling and Julie Johnson (MD) and son Gordon T. Walling, step-children Jeannie Davis, Anita Wagaman,
Don Cramer (Paivi), Steve Cramer (Rob) and Kristy McTaggart.
As well as many nieces and nephews, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
