Mildred Walling Obituary

Mildred Walling February 16, 1927 – May 27, 2025
Mildred Walling, 98, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was born on February 16, 1927, to Lucas and Mildred Guthrie In Boston, Massachusetts, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Julian, and her parents.
Known affectionately as "Miss Mildred," she was a longtime and devoted member of Oaklette United Methodist Church, where she was also active in the Oaklette United Methodist Women's Club. Her faith and fellowship were central to her life and brought her deep joy.
Miss Mildred had a lifelong love for all things handmade. She delighted in sewing, cooking, baking, knitting, ceramics, and crafts-anything she could lovingly create with her hands. Her thoughtful, homemade gifts were shared generously with those around her, becoming treasured keepsakes of her warm and giving nature.
A woman of grace, creativity, and quiet strength, Mildred will be remembered for her gentle spirit and the comfort she brought to every room she entered. Her legacy of kindness and craftsmanship lives on in the hearts of those blessed to know her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Richie Lee J. Walling and Ruth M. Stallings, and her granddaughter, Stephanie A. Watts.
