Grace Marie Elmy

Grace Marie Elmy of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility at age 100. She was born in Amsterdam on March 5, 1925, the daughter of the late Concetta and Bartelo Constantino.
Grace attended Amsterdam High School.
Grace was united in marriage to Alfred (Bill) J. Elmy on June 27, 1948. They were together 73 years until Bill passed away in September of 2021.
Grace worked at Fownes, General Electric Company and later retired from Chalmers/Montco.
Grace enjoyed bowling, bocce, bingo, casinos and traveling especially to Phoenix to visit her family. As a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church she joined the Christian Women Society where she volunteered for a variety of events such as bake sales, fashion shows, spaghetti dinners, and other fund-raising activities. She enjoyed cooking for the holidays, dancing with her husband and mostly spending time with her family. Grace was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother. Grace attended the Annual Constantino Picnic where she was able to visit with her cousins Felix and Loretta Traina and the whole Constantino clan. She enjoyed visits with her nephews Howard Pardi, Anthony Amodeo (Jacki), and nieces Connie (Chris) Dewell and Kathy (Chris) Schene from out of state.
Survivors include her son; Alfred R. Elmy, her daughter; Linda Baia (Richard), two grandchildren; Christine Russo (Scott) and Patricia Newell (Dan), five great grandchildren; Erin Adamson, Pietro Russo, Katelyn Sullivan, Kevin Sullivan, Cameron Newell and several nieces and nephews.
Grace was predeceased by her husband Bill, her sisters; Lucy (Tony) Amodeo, MaryAnn (Nick) Barlette, Rose (Frank) Greco, Nancy (Gene) Pardi, Elizabeth Constantino, Eva Constantino and her sisters-in-laws; Theresa Elmy, Mary (Gene) DiScenza, Virginia Adams, Louise (Charles) Ferro, her brother-in-law, Frank Elmy, her daughter in-law, Judy Elmy, nephews; Anthony Amodeo, Barney Amodeo, Gene DiScenza and Eugene (Chip) Pardi.
The family would like to sincerely thank the primary and specialty doctors and their staff who cared for Grace over the years, including all of the home health aides who made it possible for Grace to stay in her own home until she was 99 years old! A special thank you to the staff of St. Mary's Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility and those involved in her care. Grace and her family really appreciated the care and compassion that was provided to her which made a positive difference in her life.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 12 from 5:30-7:30 pm at DeStefano Funeral Home, Rt. 5 S, Amsterdam, NY. A celebration of Grace's life and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and internment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
