Grace was born in the Bronx on January 29, 1942. She died on June 9, 2025 at Howard County General Hospital due to a pulmonary blood clot.
She was the only child of Robert and Grace Douglas.
Grace graduated from Wagner college in Staten Island, NY in 1963 and worked for the Social Security Administration where she met her future husband, Jim Kubofcik. They moved to Maryland in 1967 and settled in Ellicott City in 1969 when they raised Mark and Joseph ( their two sons).
Grace immersed herself in the community (PTA, League of Women's Voters) as well as a host of volunteer activities. Her cheerful attitude and all round care and compassion were legendary.
She dearly loved her four grandchildren, (Lucy Max, Maggie, and Esther) and spent many a summer vacation at the Outer Banks in their company.
She loved nature, and her backyard was ever alive with birds and Fauna.
Grace was well-named, for she had that quality in abundance.
We all cherish her presence in our hearts and the warm memory of having passed our way.
A Celebration of LIfe will be held at the Howard County Conservancy on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 6pm - 10pm.
We ask that you consider a donation to the Howard County Conservancy in memory of Grace.
