Grace Olive Wheeler, 89, of Hugoton, Kansas, was called home by her heavenly Father Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at The Moore at Park Central in Amarillo, Texas. Grace was born July 28, 1935 to Oscar John Nuffer and Sophia Anna Gurtler Nuffer in Baldwin, Kansas. She graduated from Emporia High School and continued her education at Friends Bible College, now known as Barclay College, Friends University and Liberal Cosmetology School.
On April 4, 1958, Grace married Lewis Wheeler in Hugoton, Kansas. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they lived for a short time but ultimately settled down in rural Hugoton where she was an active member of Bethel Friends Church and later in life attended Fellowship Baptist in Liberal, Kansas.
Grace is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Shirley Frazier and brother, Warren Nuffer. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Lewis Wheeler; her daughters, Dana Ratliff and husband Aaron; Lisa Mason and husband Eric; her brother Harold Nuffer; four grandchildren, Laci McCreary and husband Josh; Sharaya Mauck and husband Kyle; Lance Ratliff and wife Sarah; Paige Garrison and husband Patric and eight great-grandchildren, Chloe, Blakely, Caill, Remi, Wesley, Kenzie, Case and Colt.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Garnand Funeral Home, 920 E. 11th Street in Hugoton, Kansas. Funeral service will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sovereign Redeemer Church in Hugoton with interment to follow and Pastor Eric Mason officiating. Services will be streamed live via Garnand Funeral Home's Facebook Page. Memorial contributions may be given to Sovereign Redeemer Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 920 E. 11th Street, Hugoton, KS 67951. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com
