Obituary published on Legacy.com by Curry Funeral Home - Dyersburg on Oct. 1, 2025.
Greg Galewski, 65, passed peacefully on August 8, 2025 surrounded by his family. Greg was born on August 29, 1959, in Waukesha, Wi. The son of George T. Galewski and Gertrude M. Galewski, and the baby brother to his three brothers: Jim, George, and Mark. He grew up in Pewaukee Wisconsin spending summers riding his bike around the lake. He inherited a love of magic and clowning from his father and a dry sense of humor and sharp wit from his mother. Greg had a wonderful childhood. He spent a lot of time with his Grandpa Joe whom he shared a room with when he was young. He performed magic and clown shows with his dad, and when he was old enough, he loved driving his mom around to different fabric stores. He inherited his deep faith from his family. He graduated from Saint Francis de Sales Seminary with the intent of becoming a priest, but life had other plans for him. A few years after graduating high school Greg enlisted in the Navy where he spent many years working with Nuclear power and traveling around the world. This career path eventually led him to his home in
Dyersburg, Tennessee where he spent the rest of his life with his wife, Cindy Galewski, and his nine children: James, Heather, Monica, Nick, Paul, Jordon, Lucas, Kyra, and Dalton.
Greg loved his family most of all and was happiest spending time with them. He was interested in anything his children were doing whether it was sports or hobbies. He enjoyed reading lots of books, especially ones that he could read with others and discuss. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle on long rides with his kids. He loved working in the garden and though he couldn't quite get the potatoes to grow like he wanted he was very proud of his pepper harvest every year. He would happily build anything you asked him to build and loved being able to fix something around the house. A lover of puzzles, he could be found most mornings and evenings drinking a cup of coffee and working on some puzzle book. If you weren't careful, you could find yourself pulled into a story that would take so long to tell you could forget what you were doing before he started talking.
Greg is survived by his wife, Cindy. His nine children: James, Heather, Monica, Nick, Paul (Tiffany), Jordon, Lucas, Kyra, and Dalton. His three grandchildren: Averi, Bennett, and Charli. His brothers: George (Fran) and Mark (Cyndi) and his sister-in-law Marie. As well as many nieces, nephews, and an abundance of family friends. He is preceded by his father, mother, and brother Jim, as well as his mother-in-law Marolyn Essary. The family request memorials be directed to
Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
