Reverend Greg Alan Stanberry of Opp, Alabama, formerly of Jacksonville, Illinois, went to meet his Lord and Savior on April 21, 2025; his loving wife of 51 years, Pamela Jo (Selby) Stanberry, followed him to their heavenly home 16 days later, on May 7, 2025, surrounded by friends and family.
Greg, born August 14, 1953, to William and Betty Stanberry and Pam, born April 30, 1954, to Reverend A.D. and Peggy Selby, were high school sweethearts who devoted their lives to serving their risen Savior through evangelism, teaching, and music ministries. They are survived by their sons, Cameron (Sara) Stanberry and Scott (Michelle) Stanberry, four grandchildren, Alexandra, Benjamin, Samuel, and Ashton Stanberry; Greg's siblings, Gary (Linda) Stanberry, Dana Thomas, Dora (Frank) Ehlert, Gail (Barb) Stanberry; Pam's brother Dane (Kathy) Selby and many nieces and nephews. Greg and Pam were proceeded in death by their parents and Greg's brother, Dean Stanberry, wife Linda (surviving), and one brother-in-law, Ray Thomas.
Greg graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1971 and joined the Air National Guard, serving 6 years. Greg, a welder by trade, opened Gasco Welding in 1986 and moved the business to Opp, Alabama in 2011. Pam worked alongside Greg as the business bookkeeper and served as the church pianist for Faith Tabernacle in Jacksonville, Illinois, for many years, continuing her music ministry after moving to Opp, Alabama.
Greg began his preaching career as an evangelist in 2000 and served as a pastor of several small churches in Jacksonville, Illinois and southern Alabama with Pam by his side. Greg and Pam leave a legacy of serving the Lord throughout their lives, living with a strong faith in the promises provided through the salvation and grace of Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will be held at City Church, 129 E. Vandalia, Jacksonville, IL 62650, on Saturday, May 10th at 10:30 am. Daws Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville is assisting the family with arrangements.
