Nestor Karim Delgado Jr.

Nestor Karim Delgado Jr., 28, of Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the University of Chicago Medical Center during a procedure for his congenital heart disease. He was born, September 5, 1996, in New Orleans. He was the son of Nestor K. and Myrtle Ann Hoover Delgado and married Megan Ryan, August 31, 2024, in Cancun, Mexico.
Nestor is survived by his wife, Megan of Jacksonville; parents, Nestor K. Delgado of Pascagoula, MS and Myrtle (Bruce Darby) Delgado of Bay St. Louis, MS; siblings, Anna Margaret Delgado and Augustine (Gus) Quintin Delgado; step brothers, Bradley (Portia) and Dylan Darby; maternal grand-mother, Maragaret Ann Hoover; paternal grandmother, Sylvia Delgado; in-laws, Mark (Sherry) Ryan; brother-in-law, Dennis (Kayelyn) Ryan and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by baby, Nestor Karim Delgado, III, maternal grandfather, Dr. Jack C. Hoover, and paternal grandfather, Dr. Nestor F. Delgado.
Nestor is a 2015 graduate of Resurrection Catholic High School in Pascagoula, MS and a 2018 graduate of University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2021. He loved his job as a Legislative Liaison at the Illinois Office of the Attorney General and more recently, as a Cybersecurity Policy Advisor at the Illinois Commerce Commission. He also served as Chair on the Illinois's chapter of the American Heart Association.
Nestor loved his family, friends, two dogs (Nola and Madge), a good debate, and most of all, his wife, Meg. He also tolerated Meg's cat, Floof, who he secretly also loved. He was a lifelong learner with many interests such as woodworking, cybersecurity, politics, Marvel movies, and all things sports. He was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints football team and the St. Louis City soccer team. He inspired others with his selflessness, positivity, intelligence, and passion for life. Most would describe Nestor as an advocate for those who needed a voice and as "one of the most genuine people you could know". Throughout his life, Nestor championed for cardiac research and support for others with similar conditions. Nestor enjoyed trying new restaurants and was an avid "foodie" who always known to say "I could eat". He also loved traveling to see new places and meet new people. Some of his favorite trips included China with his father and Poppa Jack, many locations throughout Europe during his study abroad program at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, United Kingdom, and more recently, his wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico. While Nestor loved his childhood on the coast of Mississippi, especially his time on the water with family and friends, he found his home in the Midwest where he was instantly beloved by his Midwest family, friends, and colleagues. Over the past few days, we've realized how undeniable and far-reaching Nestor's im-pact has been on others and are forever grateful for all the love and support during this difficult time. To honor his legacy, we ask that loved ones "pay it forward" by incorporating Nestor's spirit of kindness and selflessness by trying to make the world a kinder place for all.
A visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Daws Family Fu-neral Home in Jacksonville. A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association
