Greg Timmreck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McWilliams Funeral Home - Alpena on Dec. 17, 2024.
Greg Alan Timmreck, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, in his hometown of Alpena, where he was also born on February 15, 1957. Greg's life was a testament to his enduring spirit and the love he shared with those around him.
After graduating from high school, Greg enlisted in the Navy, where he proudly served on submarines, experiencing the unique distinction of having traveled to both the North and South Poles. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, Greg transitioned to a career as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic, a role in which he excelled for many years due to his exceptional skill and work ethic.
Greg was a man of many talents, with a particular passion for woodworking and refurbishing furniture. His hands were rarely still, as he was always immersed in a project, transforming the old into something new and beautiful. He was the embodiment of the words "handy" and "generous," always ready to lend his skills to help others without ever seeking anything in return.
His generosity extended beyond his craft, as he was known for his selfless nature, always giving and never taking. Greg's warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of generosity that will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Alexis Timmreck; his grandson, Myles Cox; his brother, Jeff Timmreck; his sister, Sally (Jerry) Shields; and many adoring nieces and nephews. Greg was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kim Timmreck, and both his mother and stepfather, LaRose and Rudy Reinholz.
Greg's life was a journey of love, service, and craftsmanship. His presence was a comfort, his laughter a joy, and his dedication to his family and friends a source of inspiration. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Per his wishes, Greg has been taken for cremation with a graveside committal to take place at a later date. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
