Gregg Steven Sonnenfeld

Gregg S. Sonnenfeld, 62, of Aberdeen, passed away at his home on Monday, January 30, 2023.
Gregg was born to Fred and Natalie Sonnenfeld on December 13, 1960, in Lakewood, NJ. He attended Lakewood High School, where he excelled at baseball as a catcher. He would later be named to the Lakewood Hall of Fame for his ability to gun baserunners down. He developed a loving group of friends through sports, whom he continued to stay in touch with faithfully.
Gregg would go on to graduate from Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1985 and founded Sonnenfeld & Trocchia Architects in Holmdel, NJ, in addition to continuing the family-run business Kofield Construction, Inc. He married his devoted wife, Sandra, on February 14, 1987 and together, they built a life together in Aberdeen for 33 years.
Gregg had a profound impact on his community, volunteering his time to Aberdeen Township and the local Babe Ruth League. He truly enjoyed his time coaching little league baseball. When Gregg was not on the baseball field with his son, you could find him on his bass boat fishing, listening to funk music, or hitting the golf course. He lived his life with a passion, and this enthusiasm was contagious. Gregg has impacted many lives and his memory will continue to live on with those who knew him.
He was predeceased by his father, Fred, and his mother Natalie. He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Sandra, a son and daughter-in-law, Julian and Gia, his grandsons Grant and Blake, sisters Sheryl and Ellen, his loving brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Temple Shalom of Aberdeen at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Keyport, NJ.
