Gregory Lansford Allen, 79, of Baker, Louisiana, passed away on August 1, 2025, in his home surrounded by loving family.

Greg was born January 10. 1946 in New Roads, Louisiana, the son of Theodore Lansford Allen and Shirley Mae Allen (Abbott).

Greg graduated from Baker High School in 1964, attended LSU for one year then joined the Navy in 1965, and served until honorably discharged in 1967.

Greg returned to Baker following his service in the Navy. He managed Standard Supply and began serving his community as a member of Knights of Columbus, coaching little league sports, member of the Jaycees and as a volunteer at the Baker Police Dept. Greg loved the city of Baker and being an active part of his community. He enjoyed participating in the Baker Little Theatre, served on the school board and served 12 years as a councilman in Baker. Later, Greg pursued a career as a Real Estate appraiser and worked in that profession for over 35 years.

In his free time Greg enjoyed golfing with the “Rat Pack”, dinner with friends, and spending time with family. He was an avid LSU fan and loved tailgating and cheering on his Tigers, though he never got over his love for Texas. Greg doted on his grandchildren. He would stop to brag on them and let everyone know they were the smartest, hardest working, best looking…He enjoyed attending their games, events, and programs and told them often that he loved them “meese’s to pieces” In his last days, Greg shared with a grandchild that “he loved making people laugh,” which sums up Greg beautifully. Always quick with a joke, his wit and humor will be remembered always.

Greg had a very strong faith. His favorite Psalm was Psalm 23. He quoted it often and shared that he knew the Good Shepherd. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and loved discussing the Bible and favorite passages with his son, Danny.

Remaining to cherish Greg's memory are his son Danny Allen and his wife Sara, their children Breigh Rhodes and her husband Seth, and Hannah, Abbey, and Avery Allen. His daughter Jennifer (Allen) Baxter and her husband Chris and their children Coy, Cade, and “Turbo” Baxter. His great grandchildren Caden Demars and Noah, Ezra, and Eli Rhodes. His partner Elaine Vallette and her son Will Vallette. His sisters Teddy “Minnie” Mock, Sandra “Dude” Stroughter. Numerous special nieces and nephews, many of whom called him “Uncle Rip”. His devoted secretary, Paula Lemoine and family.

Preceding Greg in death is his son Gregory “Goo” Michael Allen, his parents Theodore and Shirley Allen, his brothers Barry “Bud” Allen and Paul Anthony “Tony” Allen, and his sister Mary “LS” Wells.

A Celebration of Life will be held August 7, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm at Greenwood Community Park Waterfront Theatre where family and friends will share special memories of his life well lived.
