Gregory Neal Flesch, age 65, of Frankfort, Illinois, asleep in Jesus on Sunday, November 9, 2025, with his loving family by this side. He was born June 12, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, the oldest of two children born to Calvin Otto Flesch and Mabel Ellen Huelskoetter. After graduating from Missouri State University in 1982 with a B.S. in Finance, he began his 40-year career with GMAC/Ally Bank. He had interesting stories from his first position repossessing vehicles and retired in January 2024 as Director – Commercial Underwriting/Risk Management. He had the opportunity to gather friends with his career moves from Springfield, Missouri; Kansas City, Missouri; Fargo, North Dakota; Detroit, Michigan; Atlanta, Georgia; St. Louis, Missouri; and finally, the Chicagoland area in 2008. During his second time in Detroit, he received his MBA at Wayne State University.
Greg married Marsha Lera Koenig on July 30, 1988, and they were blessed with two children, Garrett Joseph (Casey) and Jacob Calvin. He enjoyed being assistant coach in his children’s sports teams for baseball, basketball, lacrosse and football. He treasured time with his family and friends, holding them close even when he did not live nearby. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, Kansas City Chiefs football fan, and a disappointed Mizzou football fan. Greg was always active in each Lutheran church he attended. He was the treasurer for Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church for the last 10 years and HOA Secretary for the last seven years. As a friend stated, Greg was always a man with a big heart: full of love, compassion, and always giving to others. He was loved by all who knew him.
Greg is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Marsha Flesch, his sons Garrett (Casey) Flesch and Jacob Flesch, his father Calvin Flesch, and sister Marsha (Mike) Baebler. He was a special brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Greg was proceeded in death by his mother, Mabel Flesch.
The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, Illinois, on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Greg will lie in state at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10731 W. La Porte Rd, Mokena, Illinois, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 9:00 AM until time of services at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, 8801 W. Saint Francis Road, Frankfort, Illinois.
The funeral service will be livestreamed and can be accessed through the Immanuel Mokena website. https://immanuelmokena.360unite.com/live-stream
